For years, iZotope has been on the cutting edge of music production and develops some of the most powerful, easy to use plugins on the market. Their recent release of Neutron 3 not only added countless interface enhancements and quality-of-life improvements, but it also adds two new groundbreaking features: Mix Assistant (New ‘Balance’ feature only available in Neutron 3 Advanced) and Sculptor (Neutron 3 Standard or Advanced only).

Mix Assistance Neutron 3 iZotope How to use it - Warp Academy

The Mix Assistant

Neutron 3 Advanced NOW offers the option to “listen to your song and balance the levels around the focus for your mix.”

If you’re already familiar with the Neutron product line, you may be thinking, “Mix Assistant isn’t a new feature.” True. Acting as a virtual studio assistant by adding compression here and equalization there, Neutron previously boasted the ability to “mix” an individual track. However, Neutron 3 Advanced NOW offers the option to “listen to your song and balance the levels around the focus for your mix.” This means that by dropping an instance of Neutron or Relay (an additional plugin included with the Neutron Bundle) on any track or bus that you wish to include in the process. Neutron 3 then does the heavy lifting by sorting all of your tracks by type and offering suggested levels for each track. By using the included Visual Mixer plugin (Neutron 3 Standard or Advanced only), you gain control over levels for your entire session within one small, resizable interface. This provides a great jumping-off point when approaching your first mix of any song! We move through absolutely every step in this video to demonstrate just how easy starting a mix can be!

iZotope Neutron 3 What is Sculptor - Warp Academy

What is Sculptor?

Sculptor is a brand new spectral shaper added to Neutron’s already robust effects arsenal. It analyzes incoming audio and organically adjusts the frequency spectrum, pulling your audio towards a selectable Sonic Profile. Since it also interacts with Mix Assistant when using the Track Enhance feature, achieving fantastic results with Sculptor couldn’t be easier, and in this video, we explore nearly every available parameter.
